HKS Supra First Pic

1994 Toyota Supra; HKS Livery

The owner of this fine vehicle is an HKS nut and has had an HKS livery in mind from day one. We were able to go for pre-cut vinyls and then layer them as required on the car. The only question was how to put together a design. The mkV Supra had been out for a bit and HKS had released a black one with a full livery, not the diagonal version of the 90's but a less full on symmetrical design with a central gold stripe taken from the Super Oil logo. After some back and forth we decided on a version of this. The car was dropped off, and work began.

Making a Start

Some of the main differences to the mkV design were as follows; switch the gold to bronze for the central stripe, switch Super Oil to Hi-Power Muffler (as the car has one) and omit the majority of the extra logos. The bronze stripe was added first, ensuring everything was perfectly centred. Templates were created to pre-cut the bronze around the bonnet vent, which complicated matters a little. The main HKS logo needed to sit in that position otherwise it would appear too high or too low. Once that was sorted, the logos on the stripe were added.

Next came the flashes. The cyan and purple sections were cut separately, then the purple pieces were fitted first, with the cyan laid on top. The main consideration here was getting nicely proportioned separation between each section of vinyl and ensuring everything was parallel, or at least as much as it can be on the curved surface of a car! The pink stripes were added next, ensuring they were lined up nicely, and finally the main HKS logos were applied to the doors.

Finishing and Finessing

Unfortunately I didn't take many in progress photos of this one, so can't show any more of those. However, the process continued to finish off the livery. The spoiler gained a Hipermax logo, while the Skewer url was added underneath, each curved to follow the shape of the spoiler blade. Minimal other logos were added, but some smaller details were. Bronze Toyota oval logos on the bonnet and tailgate, a small HKS Supra tailgate badge, and a stick on front number plate which was slightly stretched in height and curved to follow the shape of the bumper so it looks flat when viewed from the front. Finally a custom carbon fibre rear number plate finished everything off once a new Supra specific reg was obtained.

Out And About

The car gets out and about to shows and meets and definitely turns heads, as it would being so photogenic! This livery is available from the online shop, and would be ideal on any black, grey, silver or even white Supra. You can have the livery sent out to you or you can book in with Skewer for the In-House service and have it fitted. Not got a Supra? HKS mkV Supra

The mkV had a nice modern HKS livery, so we took this as inspiration. This would bring the more senior mkIV nicely up to date.
